Ideas for Adult Themed Halloween Parties

There’s nothing like an adults only Halloween Party to really spice up this
traditional children’s holiday, but while it’s fairly easy to whip up a
Halloween Party for kids, a successful adult party can require a whole new level
of thinking and some definite planning and organizational skills.
Ideas for Adult Halloween Parities
A Monster Mash. If you’re going to do it, why not do it right? Dance Samhain
away with a Monster Mash Halloween Dance Party. The music has to be ‘fright
night’ fun but can be anything from Thriller to the Monsters Inc. Theme song.
Throw an added twist to the theme by having everyone come dressed up as their
favorite scary movie character; it could be quite the eclectic crowd that you
end up with out on the dance floor. And you will need a dance floor – and a DJ
(or at least someone talented in putting together mixed CD from playlists).
Fantastic Fright Night. How long has it been since you stayed up all night
watching scary movies? This all-time teen favorite pastime can take an adult
twist with the right attention to details (such as movies shown, seating and
food served). Pick out some classics, stock up on the snack foods and drinks of
choice and you have the backbone for a Halloween party that will pick up its own
momentum as the night progresses. Decorating the room in which the movies will
be shown or arranging for someone to “pop in” in favorite serial killer disguise
halfway through will ratchet up the adrenaline level.
Vampires! - Duh! Have guests come in vampire garb specific to some movie or
fictional work. How much fun it will be to party with vamps from Twilight, True
Blood, The Vampire Diaries, Dracula, etc. You should have clips from these
movies playing in the background and find some treats unique to each genre.
A Harry Potter Party. I know it was written for kids – but Harry Potter is as
big a hit with adults as it is with the younger set. Besides that, many of
today’s young adults grew up watching or reading Harry Potter, or are parents
who read Harry Potter to their own children and fell in love with it themselves.
Besides, let’s face it, many of us are geeks at heart. So why not make Hogwarts
your destination for the evening? The choices are nearly endless when it comes
to Harry Potter parties, and can be as simple or as ornate as you like. Have the
guests come dressed up as their favorite character from the stories, play truth
or dare in the great room (and let me tell you, playing truth or dare with a
roomful of adults can be a real eye-opener), whip up some pumpkin juice and
cauldron cakes or create a little magic of your own with some dance music that
will get dancing like crazy elves.
The Haunting. If you are very creative, you can create a real live haunted
house; with every room in your house sporting cobwebs or creepy music; strange
scenes and mind-bending screams. Lead your guests through the house in twos or
threes and bring them out at the end in the back yard or patio/pool area where
candlelit pumpkins and refreshments can be served and you can really get the
party started.
These are just a few of the options you have for adult Halloween parties, so get
your thinking caps on and start planning, for October 31st is closer than you
think!
